after some more checking it is more than the injector pump it has some upper engine noise and when you take off the oil cap there is a LOT of blow by and a lot of blue smoke out of the exhaust so it seems like a lot more serious than i first thought leaning towards possible broken rings or cracked piston.

Could be as simple as a dribbly injector.

Well, if you can call that simple.

Check for Diesel in the oil.

Diesel gets in the oil, all the extra has to come out somewhere.

In order to do a compression test on a Diesel, you have to remove the injector.

If you have an infrared thermometer, and the truck still runs,
you can check the exhaust manifold at each cylinder.

If one is noticably hotter or colder than the rest, it is most likely the injector.

Easiest would be to check the oil level, if it is a lot higher than it should be,
fuel is dribbling down the side of the cylinder filling up the crankcase.
Give the diptstick a sniff, if there is Diesel present, you should be able to smell it.

The blue smoke could also be from a stuck injector,
very cold days mine smokes with a blue tint till the block temps come up a bit,
extra unburnt fuel coming out.
Leaky injector would also be supplying extra unburnt fuel.

hauliday,
I had a 2002 HO and changed the injectors. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them now that the truck is gone. I don't see in your profile that you have changed out the injectors, so I'm assuming yours are stock. If you want to pay to ship these, I will send them to you. They had about 25,000 miles on them.

Replaced pump and it helped some and it seems to be weak still hardly any git up and go and seems to be on high idle most of the time when coming to a a stop its idiling about 950 and just before i come to a complete stop drops to about 800 and when its hooked it to a code reader it says the fuel temp is - 133351.1 degres so i guess the rebuilt pump is bad too and when we try to pull the injectors it broke the puller so i guessed the injectors are carboned up as well
