Tach Sender Location??

I have a 1994 Cummins B-Series in my 1995 RV. But for the life of me I can not find where the Tachometer sender is. My current one stopped working and I need it. I have checked the alternator, but no luck. Can someone point me in the right direction..Please??

Look at the bell hsng @ about 10:00 position as looking from behind. It's a tooth counter off of the ring gear.

On my 12v it is located at the front above the harmonic balancer at about the 11 oclock position. It reads a notch cut into the harmonic balancer.

Yep, 94-98 12V on the front, .049/.051 is the air gap, thickness of a business card works.

I had to replace my 97 ESS (Engine Speed Senser) sometimes called CPS (Crank Position Senser depending on year of truck). Symptoms were no tach, no alt charging, no MIL light, no speedo etc. It controls tach, speedo, gen charging etc. thru the PCM. If ESS or CPS is bad all those other symptoms will appear. The actual tach signal comes (I believe) from the PCM but without the ESS or CPS the PCM will not supply those signals.

MY ESS was in front of engine above the balancer (dampner) as was mentioned. The 24 valve CPS is above the starter in rear of engine near flywheel.

You may have a bad tach or loose connection if all other sysptoms I mentioned do not appear.
