Sputtering and missing

I am really new to diesel trucks, but love my 2003 Dodge. However, I am having a lot of problems with it. For the past two-thousand miles I have been driving the truck and it will begin to miss and sputter, almost like the fuel filter is clogged. I have had the fuel filter replaced, but it keeps on happening. When it begins to miss the "check engine" light comes on and sometimes the "water in fuel" light will come on. I have had it into four different dealerships and the technicians continually tell me that they do not know what is wrong with it. They put it on the computer, and several codes will display. Then they said that they reset the computer (due to the overwhelming codes), restart the truck, and no other lights come on. I am sure that everyone can imagine my frustration and I just thought that posting may give me some ideas to try.

What are the number of the codes?
This will give others a base line to start from.
When it does this is it at any throttle position?
We need more information on how the truck acts.

Check for good connections on the wiring harness and look for chafing. Are you draining the fuel and checking for water?

I have taken it into the dealer and I don't recall the codes. I will try and get those for you guys. I also have checked for water and it seems ok. The dealership keeps telling me that I may have got a bad tank of fuel, but I have trouble believing that everwhere I get fuel I get a bad tank of it. Also, I took it to Auto Zone one day and one of the codes said something about the throttle position. Again, I don't recall the code. I apologize and wish I knew more. Like I said I am still new with this whole thing.

Isn't there an issue with a ground strap on the back of the engine chafing the wiring harness on the '03s?

If you shut off the truck then turn the key off and back on 3 times then watch the odometer display it will show you what error codes are stored. It will show a series of numbers then "done" to tell you it is completed. Mine was showing P0148 then P2127 and then the high pressure pump failed and I had to have the truck towed to the dealer. It could be the begining of your lift pump failing. If under 100,000 miles and your transfered warranty it should be covered with no more than a $100 deductable (that is debatable, some are charged and some are not).

My truck has approximately 30,800 miles on it. Is it likely that the lift pump would be failing so soon? Also, my truck is under warranty, but the bumper to bumper is over in June (3 yr. or 36,000miles). I have the power train warranty as well (7yr. 70,000 miles). Therefore, I would hope that the dealership would repair what ever is wrong with it at no cost. We'll have to see though. They don't seem to cooperate a whole lot.
