Sputter At Take Off
They replaced the fuel actuator today and it hasn't sputtered yet. They mechanic says he is very confident that was the problem. My only question is what does the fuel actuator actually do. Does it control the amount of fuel coming from the injection pump into the rail (by the way it's an 03).
The way I understand it the fuel control actuator(FCA) is located on the injection pump. It controls how much fuel goes to the rail system. They guy changed it in about 1/2 hour. While I was there they also did a computer flash to update the computer. ddt111, how exactly does your sputter, because mine did it the worst after it would idle, for example at a drive thru or when sitting at red light.
I have no evidence to say it's the injectors, but from the little I have read on this site it sounds like a possibilty. The "diesel" guy at the dealership said that when an injector goes bad it probably won't start, and if it does it will run too bad to actually move the vehicle. Could it be the injector pump? Also, is the covered under the cummins 100k warranty.

Not true. I actually watched the mechanic the entire he removed the old and installed the new. In fact I witnessed him pull the FCA from the Mopar box. I would guess they are trying to screw you over.
