Sluggish Starter
Truck has been acting weird when starting. Almost like the starter is bound up somehow. Drove it all day with no problems. Came home shut it down, chanaged clothes, got back in and only one crank. Leave the key in the "Run" position and turn it again and nothing. Turn it back to "OFF" and then back to "Start" and it will crank once but only once. Checked batteries and they are low. Put charger on it,Left it there and went to eat in Wifeys truck and when I get home it starts. Volts are at 14 and never went below that today while driving so I dont know why the batteries were low all of a sudden. Any thoughts? Did have a "GEN" light come on two months ago but nothing after that. Is the generator going out?

You probably need the starter contact kit http://www.fostertruck.com/dodge/default.htm

deffinately sounds like starter contact kit was my problem and I had the same thing fix it sooner than later you don't want the fuel shutoff selonoid going out to the tune of $300-500 $35 IS ALOT CHEAPER

I just did the contacts like two months ago. Should have put that in the first post. The batteries are less than a year old and the contacts are less than two months old. Got in this morning to check and see if she would start and no dice. The volt meter is reading like 9, I know the batteries are dead I just dont know why. I suspect the alternator because I had the "GEN" light come on a while back and someone told me when it goes it just GOES.

maybe try and test the ALT or is something maybe draining the batteries when truck is off?

I found the problem. Somehow I destroyed the heater grid relay. It was completely melted where one of the wire connects to it from the battery. I disconnected the wires and replaced my battery cables so I am good now. Starts right up.
