Skim Wcm

Hello all

Are these two modules the same? My 07 3500 RAM had the same symptoms addressed in STB 08 007 08 for the WCM. I removed the IOD fuse, reset and the truck started, took it to the dealer and they replaced the SKIM module, not the WCM per the work order, now I'm concerned they replaced the wrong module.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The WCM is also referred to as the Sentry Key Remote Entry Module (SKREEM). The SKIM is the Sentry Key Immobilizer Module that contains the actual "secret" security code, and can be replaced individually.

The reset procedure of removing the fuse works for failures in either module.

If the WCM/SKREEM module were bad the SKIM would not reset it when replaced, and the truck would not run.

My guess is that the tech failed to clean up the paperwork and say what was actually wrong once the diagnostics were complete. Common problem with dealer shops operated by stupid, lax or lazy Service Managers. Always collar the Service Manager and ask your questions when you pick up the rig to avoid these kinds of situations.
