Safe to run 12 quarts? (12v)

Just wondering since I did my first oil change and it was difficult for me to read the dipstick...

It showed right on the line after 12 quarts and I know its supposed to take 10, but when I drove it home from the shop it reads over safe and I know there are only 12 quarts in there...

Should I drain some?

I don't have my tools at home...

Thanks man!

Is it cool if I continue to run 12 quarts @ every oil change?

I fill it with 12 each time myself. I have never liked hanging on to the last quart at every oil change so I always poured it in too.

This question was posted some time ago, and all the replies were "no worries, 12 quarts will not hurt"

i would say running slightly less oil is better than more oil...take out a quart and a half or at least a quart
