Exclamation Repeating APPS problems!!!!!

Can someone tell me if they have had the APPS replaced more than three times? And what did you do to finally get this problem fixed?
I have an 03 w/six speed trans. 4x4 Dually, Van Aken Smart box 2.3, and a Magnaflow muffler and a lifetime drop in filter.
The mechanic can not seem to find any other problems such as bad connections or wiring harness problems. I am on my third one and would like some help fixing this problem of the Dead pedal!

Has the voltage from the ECM been checked? Could be that the signal is frying the pot.

That I am not sure. The mechanic is from I understand just reading his scanner. I have tried to watch over his shoulder and he usually walks away until I go away to come back and work on it some more. There is a component problem or a wiring issue here that has not yet been found.

If the same dealer has been running the APPS problem to ground (no pun intended) for 3 (!) replacements - it's time to visit another dealer...

or hell - do it yourself, you couldn't do qny worse than they have!

Has anyone tried to find a replacement for just the sensor? I know that alot of the big rigs use a similiar sensor but I'm not sure if the bolt holes would line up or if the electrical connector would match but it would sure be cheaper than what Dodge wants if you could find one.
