Removing head in a few minutes...

I am about to unbolt my head on my 94 in a few minutes. Do I need to put the push rods back in the same holes? Should injectors should go back in the same hole??? I just want to make sure if anything is hole specific that I mark it now.

Thanks .....

Dave

I've always heard that the push rods should go back in the same place because of the wear pattern.

Remember the rubber plugs in the cowl/firewall to get the rear pushrods out!!! Dont forget to unplug the temp sender (drivers side rear of head).

Guys thanks for the info. My ARP studs will not come out very easy. All bolts are off. Just studs are super tight. I was able to get a few studs loose but I have ruined two 5 mm allen heads. Can the head come off with the screws in the block? It looks like it will. I just want to make sure.... The center head screws where hand loose. The rest are TIGHT...!!! Please advise......

man i dunno ,you will have to see if it will come off but i would take them out. maby use a ninty degree rattle gun with a allen socket. as far as the studs i bieleve they are supposed to be loose. not the nuts though.

Well I did get the head off with some studs remaining. I had to use my vise grips to get the 3 remaining screw out. I am going to replace some of the studs because the allen head on some of the screws became rounded. Can I purchase studs individually? Man I hope so.... I think the shop that did my HG last year did not use any lube/anti seize with the screws. Man some of them where really tight and a little rusty. The center one where nice and loose. But maybe the blown head gasket caused some to get seized

Here is how my head gasket looked. My finger is between 6 and 5 where most of the water was coming out.....

And I found a easy way to pull the injectors. I used a 1966 chevy ball joint nut that fit like a charm and pop them with the slide hammer. I know the slide hammer is nothing new. But what about the chevy ball joint nut...
