Proper operating temperature?????

Hello,

I have a question as to the proper operating temperature. I have read the posts about the fluctuating temp guages etc, and I have that problem.

Out here in Arizona as everyone knows it gets hot. Today I was driving the truck and noticed while I was in VERY Slow traffic, my temp guage went above 190 a bit. This concerned me quite a bit as I have never noticed the guage go above 190 before. What is the danger zone temperature wise that I need to be aware of etc?

the outside temperature today was about 90-95 degrees
Thanks,
Steve

You don't want it over 220. Nothing to worry about at 190.

even in texas temps at a standstill from a heavy load, with the fan engaged 190 is tops that i see nothing to worry about, although i have seen 220 befor which is why i keep a spare fan clutch in the truck, custom design with all the silicone out of it truck never gets hot with that

WANNADIESEL is right 220*-230* tops ...don't worry about boiling over , a pressurized system doesn't boil til 260*

Look for dirty or clogged radiator fins. Also check for debris between the radiator and the intercooler.
