passenger side floor wet
 

I was installing my speakers from my '97 to my '01, and when I pulled the carpet up on the passenger side, it was all wet underneath. So i went to the driver side and pulled it up, it was dry.

i had this problem in my '97, and i found that the ac drain was not draining very good. i had to put an extension hose on the drain.(the drain BTW is just a little pipe sticking out of the firewall that is parallel with the road. it should be angled down or something to help drain better.

im gonna transfer the hose and see if that helps.

if any of you have never pulled your carpet up, you should try. you might find yours doing the same thing. you cant tell unless you take off the foot molding and stick your hand in to see.

This can also be caused by a leaking heater core. If it smells like coolant then you'll know right off if its the conensate drain ot the heater core.

If it does not smell like antifreeze, put you shop vac on the AC drain tube and you will pull out a gob of algae and moss, then it will drain again. Then get some AC disinfectant from your dealer or auto parts store, and spray it in the housing to kill the fungus and keep it from growing back.

I did not smell like antifreeze. it was cool, and didnt stink (as if it had been wet awhile). Im gonna try RCW's method, and put my drain extension from my '97 on it.

I have lived with the bad heater core for quite a while. Check you coolant, if you have not lost coolant, you can bet it is the AC. Better hope so anyway.

For the heater core the console has to come out, then the shifter, then the kick panels, followed by the steering column, then the entire dash. After that you get to drop the AC, and pull the entire heat/air unit to install the core.

I drove a 97’ that did the same thing….I agree the drainage tube is too short. I noticed it too when “guttin’ her” do a stereo job. Fortunately I had my 92’ CTD only a month before I performed surgery and got some “sound”……… ;D

I also had this problem on my '02 and my dad did as well on his '02. The problem was not the windsheild, third brake light, heater core or the ac drain line. It was good ol fashion poorly sealed joints. A trip to the dealer for both trucks and a couple of hours, problem fixed under warranty.

My Dad's 95 did the same thing. After a few times we found the back widow had poped out of the channel a little bit. Just put a little sealer on it pushed it back in and so far so good no more leak.

Had the same problem with the wife's Grand Cherokee.
Pull the seats, console, kick panels, and made her drive around for two days with no carpet while it dried out in the garage.
She has informed me it is time to go shopping for a new vehicle.
This is probably gonna hurt!

Have you thought of taking her for a ride in an '04 Ram? ;)

While installing dual FireStik CB antennas, I have discovered that mine is doing it too. Well...I don't know what's causing it, but I do know that the passenger side carpet pad is SOAKED. I might try to see if the drain tube is the problem or something. :(

My dads 02 did the same thing, a rodent had chewed his a/c drain tube to the point where it drained in the cab. His insurance actually covered the repair.

This seems to be a very common problem. Mine has also done the same thing.
The quick fix is this.
Dry the drain and cut one 3’ piece of 5/8 heater hose put a small amount of pipe dope on the end for sealant and slide it on the drain. Problem is solved. This works best if the hose has a slight downward bend to it .

Well, I put a tube on mine. Thats the exact same thing i did on my '97. Time will tell if it worked.
