No upshift equals no build in governeor pressure. Assuming fluid O'K.
Easiest repair is RPM speed sensor on left rear of OD unit(a two wire connector)
Drop pan if possible and look for junk(lots of metal or clutch material) in pan. If no junk a gov sol and pressure transducer might get you going. Otherwise your tranny and converter upgrades are coming faster than you wanted.
