oil filter

I just purchased a new-to-me 1997 Dodge diesel 3500 4x4 with manual transmission. I need to change the oil and need advice on using after-market filters. Sue

Re:oil filter

Be sure and only use Cummins approved filters such as Fleetguard, there are a few others listed somewhere in the tech facts I believe.

Re:oil filter

I use Fleetguard (they're owned by Cummins). Get mine from a local truck repair shop - priced about same as the discount auto parts, but better quality IMO.
Also be sure to specify DIESEL rated oil - NOT the same as typical auto oil.
Regards,
-Scott

Or go to Napa and get their gold series filter. It's as good as any.

Re:oil filter

The fleetguard stratapore the 24 valvers use would be best. I would only use a fleetguard, fleetrite, or baldwin myself. Whatever you do DO NOT use a fram.

Paul
