No trans

HELP
Ok, the truck is stock except a edge juice with attitude. Its a 98.5 3500 4WD cummings automatic.
Was driving along no problem not towing when the it started to over rev, almost like pulling in the clutch on a manual. It continued to get worse untill it stopped all drive after about 3 miles.
If you shift it out of drive and back into it it will move along slowly till you hit around 15 mph and then loses it again untill you stop and repeat the process.
After crawling for about a mile the trans temp alarm went off on the edge juice forcing us to stop all together. We tryed 4WD and no difference, no different in reverse either.
Checked the oil level - OK and no signs of metal.
If you leave it cool down for 15 mins or so it improves but soon loses it after a short burst...........any thoughts.
Im leaning towards a bust tourqe converter but Im not to familiar with these trucks.
Any simple checks to further diagnosing it.

My 01 did almost the same thing except I was towing so mine would not move. I bet it's the governor pressure sensor and governor pressure solenoid they are always going out on these trucks

have you "key on, key off" 3x yet to check for codes??

BTW when mine went bad if never threw any codes for me...witch made it really hard to find the problem..

the sensor and solenoid are around $100-$150 together depending on where you get them.

Tryed the truck again this morning and no different. Plenty of trans fluid although it is definatly burnt.....edge juice has a recording of max oil temp at 245 deg F........
Any recomendations on who to call
I live in Ireland so experience with these trucks is limited.
Cheers

Even though you are in Ireland I would think there is someone with some torqueflight knowledge. Even if they can work on an old 727 (which has been around since the early 60's) that will give them enough know-how to help you out. Having a factory service manual will be a big plus too (96 all the way up to 2002 will work).

.......that said, lack of movement, but a little when cold, tells me the pump is not doing it's job. A teardown is in order with a new pump and converter on the shopping list for sure. As far as the gov psi sensor/solenoid, even if you unplug all the electronics from the trans, it should still move. Good luck and hopefully some of our other European member have some suggestions on who/where to go.....although from some of the reading it looks like alot of them tear into them themselves.

You might want to check out this trans. , since these trucks are known for trans . problems , & your lucky that your back going , it may allow you to do some research , savings , time .
Dave has got one of the beat rep.s out there , there are about 4-6 custom trans. places that most of the Ram Cummins guys are talking about .
My point being that if theres 1/2 dozen top trans. places in the us , there may or may not be that option where your at , so in the long run , it may be an idea to pay the shipping .
