Question No Tach

O.k. I have a 1999 Dodge and have lost tach and enging has a tendancy to sputter and shut off, it runs erractic. Could this be a crank positioning sensor? If so where is it located? This truck was made late in 1999, if that makes a difference.
Thanks for any help on this.
Bill

Sure sounds like a crank sensor to me! This is exactly what mine did. Its located on the driver side of the block behind the starter. You will have to drop the starter to replace it. If you have a Cummins around you get the sensor from them, its about 20-30 Bucks cheaper! Good luck!
