NO O/D in automatic

Tranny has been shifting a little strange for past 2 days(early shifts). all of a sudden today I have no high gear for about an hour. 2 hours later i drive it and it's back. Truck is not overheating or anything. what's bizarre is that no one but me maintains it or even drives it for that matter and I have never had to add any fluids to it. Today when it started to act up i checked the dipstick and it showed way high??? . fluid is still red and does not smell burnt. This BD Power tranny & converter have about 120K on them and have synthetic fluid. A neighbor mentioned a throttle position box??? thanx in advance , DAVE

Could be your TPS(throttle position sensor), lots of info in other threads.
Were you checking the fluid level with truck in neutral?

I have heard of guys purchasing them from Napa?? They are adjusted by the linkage that goes to them in volts, the Haynes manual that is available from the local parts house has the directions or do a search here for the info,if you do not have a manual. You might try taking the tps off and seperating the two halfs and cleaning and regrease with dielectric grease or simply clean it while moving it with contact cleaner. My tps gave me simulir symptoms, and I took all the wires out of the harness from the pcm to the tps and cleaned, readjusted volts and have had no problems since. Also check and clean the connection down on the tranny. Goodluck,,, Rick

Guess that would make the old days prior to the sixties . Can't recall which wire to check voltage on as I use a scan tool, but you would want to see .85 to 1 volt at idle.
