No Crank

Hi all,

2008 3500. The truck will intermittently not crank.

I drove it to the store the other day, came out 30 minutes later and it would not crank. No codes. Rechecked battery cables (they were tight) and it miraculously started. Went home, cleaned the cables (they weren’t bad at all), and it would not crank again. Rechecked codes and got a bunch (below). Let it sit overnight, and in the morning it started. A few hours later, drove it, parked it, came back 5 minutes later and no crank. A ton of patience and it started. This has been going on for a week. The codes are gone (not cleared, just disappeared). Currently will not crank. I tried the WCM reset trick (TSB 08-007-08) and no luck. I thought it may be the ECM (had that once, years ago) because of the codes, but I don’t believe it would’ve restarted if the ECM was dead. Tried changing the batteries in one of the key fobs, no luck.

Where do I begin? Can you guys give me some ideas on what to check?

Here were the codes that appeared then disappeared:

Wireless Control Module:
B1a28 ECM mismatch with SKIM
U0141 Lost communication with body control module “A”

Totally Integrated Power Control Module:
C1002 Brake pedal switch 1 circuit high

Climate Control:
B10ac Right blend door control circuit open

Enhanced power train:
P0513 Incorrect immobilized key

im (guessing) it has something to do between your key and ignition. also your ignition might be creating the other issues but dont take my word for it. definitly do more research but that might be an area to focus on at least. good luck hope ya figure it out.

Mike, thanks for the reply.

I replaced the starter (and solenoid) and it's worked since.

What threw me off was the lack of ANY sound whatsoever, plus the codes. Initially, there was no sound when attempting to crank it (not even the click). Eventually I started to hear an intermittent click, which made me think it was the starter or solenoid that had failed. I checked and there was power was going to the starter, so I replaced that and now its good to go.
