No 4,5, and 6 cylinder????

I was driving home Monday when my '03 CTD lost power and put me on the side of the road. It didn't stall.....just no power. The check engine light came on and I shut the engine off. On restarting the engine it ran fine but the check engine light remained on. Took it to the dealer today and they want to replace the wiring harness and computer......$1700.00. They told me the code set indicated the number 4,5, and 6 cylinders were not firing. Any suggestions? The engine now runs fine and the check engine light has since gone out.

More than likely a wiring problem. The wiring for the injectors is built into the valve cover gasket and they have been known to go bad. Also there have been some problems with the wiring outside the valve cover wearing thru and touching ground. I'd look it over real close first. Then tell your dealer to shove it and fix it yourself! There has never been a case other than a fire when I had to replace an entire harnes AND ECM.
