I just picked up this 93 cummins and the injetor pump is pouring fuel out of the throttle shaft area. Is this an easy fix? I've never worked on a diesel, but I am very mechanically inclined. I called a diesel shop in town, about the fix, and they tell me to rebuild the whole pump at $1000 and not even to mess with just fixing the leak.

 

the throttle shaft O ring can be replaced in the fiedl on the Bosch VE pump, I picked up a seal kit from an injection shop for about 20 bucks, The plate where the shaft goes thru has to come off hiowever you have to be very careful on removal as springs are attached to the shaft input to the governor... There is some write ups on the WEB if you do a google search...
