new member IP warranty problems

2 weeks left on warranty took truck in for dead pedal. Verdict is IP near dead at 41000 miles. Transfer pump was replaced at 34000 18 months ago. Dealer said warranty was voided by tapping the pump wire. Any help would much appreciated!

That's pretty much the rule.

If you wanted to pay for a lawyer, the Dealer has to prove that the pump tap is what killed the IP.
You'd end up paying the lawyer more than you would for a new IP and putting it on yourself.

You play, you pay.

Not really emissions tampering voids the warranty on it's own It is also a federal offense, walk into court and explain that

Not sure how close they look at them anymore.....but back in the day DC made it quite clear that if we (dealer) sent a core in with a pierced wire the warranty claim would be denied which put us in a difficult position.....basically the dealer would eat the cost of the pump. Not on my watch.

I'm sure they're looking at them really close.
2001 and 2002's still have a little warranty left but after that the Dealerships won't have to worry about it and can charge whatever they want to change out the VP44.

Back in the day, before pierced wires were common and the Dealerships didn't know what to look for, you might have been able to sneek one through, not anymore.

41K miles?

Seems like the VP died from old age rather than from use!

Look at the bright side - it ran longer for you than a lot of us.
