needed crank position sensor (all on backorder)

I am finally closing on my first house on Friday and I need my truck. Last time I used it I was having alternator charging and no tach problems. Easy fix right? It is the CPS on the front of the motor. So I start looking for one and they are on backorder.

Anyone out there have one they could sell and get in the mail today?

I am just a little desperate.

What year of truck is this for? If it is older than an 01 or 00 it will use the Crank Position Sensor that is located behind the Starter. If it is the 00 or 01 24 Valve, it will use the Cam Position Sensor underneath the Vp44

Someone will correct me on the years of switch over.

Maybe you're having a problem because a 12 valve doesn't have a CPS, what you want is the engine speed sensor, any autoparts has or can get one.

As does my '99, but his '95 doesn't.

You'll probably get more help in the 12 valve forum.

This is for my '95. As I understand it the sensor on the front of the motor that runs off the 'tone ring'/harmonic balancer is the culprit. It is a magnetic sensor that has about a 8-12" long wire lead with a 3 prong round plug. I am still desperate.

Justin, check out http://www.rockauto.com go to your year ( 95 ) and look it up, interestingly enough they put it under the ignition section.

That should be what you need, and several aftermarket suppliers make it, so any decent Auto Parts store will have them in stock.

From the cross reference, it looks like they used the same sensor in everything from a Neon to a Ram.

I live in a little podunk town also and my Napa ordered one for me for about $75 for my 97. It's called a Engine Speed Senser (ESS) but Napa called it a CPS I believe.
