I have a 99 5spd dodge with a few mods nothing major. Going down the interstate towing a trailer my nv4500 came out of 5th gear and killed the motor like it was bogged down. Pushed the clutch in while still rolling, started truck, let out on clutch and truck died. Never locked up so i rolled over to the grass. Started truck in neutral let out of clutch and it bogged the motor down but didn't even try to move the truck. I gave the truck some rpms and let out on the clutch to see if it would try to move, It made all kinds grinding noise and kept running until I let it go back down to an idle and then it killed it again. Got underneath truck and it wasn't dripping fluid but you could tell that had been leaking. Pulled plug and couldn't feel an fluid with finger. I am going to pull the pto plate tomorrow and look at it. Any suggestions? If I need a trans were should I order one from and would like one that already has 5th gear fixed? I will install it I just don't have the time to build one right now and would rather have a warranty.

 

Nga ram, check out Quad4x4.com. They can ship one to you if you want to install it yourself. They have built nv4500's that are the best I know of & can handle extra hp if you want to add performance mods. Whatever you do, don't buy a rebuilt tranny from a national chain cause they are junk. I bought one from Cottmans & went thru 3 of them cause the 5th gear kept going out. Good luck.
