Modifying fog lights

I followed the instructions on Dave Fritz's web site to modify the factory fogs to stay on with the high beams, but it didn't work. Looking at the socket for the relay, it looks like there is no female receptical for the number 5 pin. Does any one know how to get the fogs to work with the high beams? I have a 2001 slt. Thanks. Chuck ??? ???

Re:Modifying fog lights

On the 2001 you pull the fog lamp relay from the PDC, then install a jumper between the two large terminals (#87 & #30) that are parallel to the relay ends.

Thats exactly what I did and it didn't work! When I look at the female end of the #87 connector, I can't see a female plug in the fuse box, like all the other connectors? Does anyone have a suggestion. Thanks [eyecrazy]

Here is a picture of mine. Are you sure you are looking in the correct relay socket?

Thats exactly where I tried the jumper first, and then I gutted the relay and hard wired those two connectors together to see if that would work and still the fogs wouldn't come on either way. When I shone a flash light in the socket for the relay, it looks like the center one doesn't have a female connector socket in it. I'm very confused. Thanks for your help.

The only thing I can suggest is to pull the PDC and take a look underneath the block for the female spade terminal to be pulled down somehow. Maybe, it got pushed out???

I'm not sure whats going on. If I put the relay in it works, but if the jumper is in it doesn't!

Chuck, I tried the jumper wire route on my 02 and had the same results as you. I looked down into 87 terminal and can see connector down low, but the spade evidently does not make contact. The relay does though and the lights work fine as long as relay is plugged in. I am as perplexed as you. Maybe someone else with an 02 can chime in as to what they have encountered. My truck was manufactured in december of 01. ??? ??? ???

Re:Modifying fog lights

Sounds like my problem. The fogs work with the low beams as long as the relay is pluged in, but when I try the jumper route I get nothing. When you say #87 is missing, is that the plug that is also marked as #5 on the relay itself? Is it the one that is parralell to the short ends of the relay, in the middle? I can't even see a plug at all in the socket on my truck. Maybe if we try a longer male plug in this socket we can get the fogs to work!

use a 12 volt test light or multi-meter to determine how far down the terminal is
