Re:Malicious damage

Thanks. I used a fine sharpened toothpick to get the paint into the scratch. Then after it had semi hardened I tried to shave it down to the same level as the original paint. This has worked for me in the past but not this time. Suspect it is because the scratch is so shallow. It is barely thru the color with the primer only just starting to show. The color sure is thin.

Re:Malicious damage

Re:Malicious damage

gs - Unfortunately I think it is too deep for that. Did think about trying it on a small area but never did get around to it. Around here it is only a matter of time before there are other scratches anyway.<br>PumpDaddy - I am about 7 hours drive away from Vera Cruz so guess I can't be your collection agency. Sorry.

Re:Malicious damage

Mexstan, unfortunately you have one of the tougher colors for touchup. Lighter metallic colors usually look worse afterwards unless it's just in the clearcoat then you can use a fine artist brush and use only clearcoat in the process. Solid colors are much easier and with practice can easily be built up then color sanded and buffed and go un-noticed. If it's that bad, you could always take it to a body shop for a blend within the panel job.....would run around $275 at my shop. good luck

Re:Malicious damage

Harleydog thanks. It is not that bad which is why I will live with it for now. It is just that it is so long that it catches my eye. Actually I see today that I have a new scuff mark on the front fender but think I can buff that out. Some folks down here just don't care how they park and think nothing of parking by ear. I knew when I bought this nice truck that even tho I tend to park at the back of any parking lot that I would end up with some scratches. Same thing with my car. :'( Ticks me off no end but is one of the compromises I have to live with for choosing to live here.

Re:Malicious damage

Mexstan, there are plenty of those types here in the DFW area as well, who think nothing about throwing their door open and dinging the car next to them. I see it happen more than it should, but there are just some people in this world who think that they are too important to care about anyone else's rights or property. Been that way since the beginning of civilization, probably won't change soon.

Re:Malicious damage

There are those types here too, but we also have another type which is the type that put the long scratch on my door. There are a lot of poorer people here that are resentful of anybody that has more than they have such as a new car. It seems to make them feel good to damage the property of those that have more than them. Quite common down here.

Re:Malicious damage

Mexstan, We've gottem here also. I'm gonna have to change my sig from &quot;not a scratch&quot; to &quot; dent in the door&quot;, that's why I carry a 1911 with 2 extra clips. In the last 12 months we have had over $140,000.00 worth of parts taken from our shop, and all the &quot;police&quot; do is grin and laugh, one even made the comment that &quot;maybe you should move your shop to YOUR side of town and let the brothers be&quot;

Re:Malicious damage

Man, that sucks!! :'( It is pretty bad when the people that should be helping you, don't. However, this is probably a sign of the times and things are probably going to get worse. Not normally a pessimist but from what I read from various sources around the world that is the way things are going. Sad!!!
