Exclamation lost

i need my engine serial # and im 3 hrs away- tried to get my dad to read the # to me but seems to be wrong also tried vin# but that dont work either- Someone gave me a part # for a 95" model dodge 2500 will that # work on a 97'?

Where is he looking for the number ?
It should be on a metal plate on top of the timing housing , driver side , may be covered with dirt/oil .

found it

Guy at parts house had numbers mixed up and i couldnt verify them since my truck is 3 hrs away Anyhow i got it straight. THANKS to this site i saved alot of money on my part buying directly from CUMMINS!!!!!!!
