Loose on Trade Or Win???
47RE Problems
Long time reader first time poster... This is by far the best site I have seen for Dodge Rams! I would thank anybody if they can offer any help or advice with this problem. Thank You. I currently have a 2003 quad cab 4x4 3500 SRW S.O. Cummins with the 47RE auto. 3.73 gears, short bed. that has 34,000 miles. The transmission was bad from the start from 20,000 miles when I bought it. I took it in and the T.C. was bad (clutch burnt up) they didn't rebuild it, they just flushed the tranny. and replaced the seals. Now it didn't shift right, wouldn't shift from 3rd to 4th under 1/2 to 3/4 throttle unless you let off the throttle. It would go down the highway in 3rd gear at 70 mph running 2500 rpm or more until you let off. Took it back in and all they did was tell me it shifted fine (didn't do that before they tore it apart) and sent me down the road, after they fixed the rear tranny. seal leak. Took it in again for the same shifting problem, now they tell me that it is normal when it is cold (It was doing it at operating temp), and then they played with the kick down cable. Still same problem took back a fourth time and they took the kick down cable all the way out on adjustment and now it shifts way too soon on all other gears but still has the same problem from 3rd to 4th. Stay with me.... They have a used 2004 quad cab short bed 4x4 2500 3.73. gears with the NV5600 6 speed 325 hp 600 tq. 44,000 miles (but the engine hours are half of my 2003, so these are all highway miles) and they won't give me my down payment of 4,000.00 back but tell me they can lower the intrest rate on my loan so I won't have to come up with any money out of pocket. At this point I don't know if this is a good deal or if I should try and get them to fix the tranny a fifth time. Please HELP!!!
Can never go wrong with a 6spd. Although if you had a proper tranny tech working on your truck it would be fixed by now.
So what I read is for 4 grandyou are jumping up to a 2004.5 truck with 10k more miles? I'd like to see actual numbers on paper.
If they are trading truck to truck with less monthly payment then I'd say go for it. 10k miles is nothing on these trucks. 6spd is awesome compared to the slushbox.

Watch out for how long the payments are. They may lower the interst rate, make the trade and extend the contract by 12 to 24 months in order to make the deal work. This could be another $3K to $12K in the end.
