Hole burned in #6 piston. That is what caused the oil leak...the increase of crankcase pressure from the hole in piston blew out one of the sidecover gaskets.
Well.... the ONE time I needed help BAD from DTR....no one helped.
I guess I am really in the sticks.
They are going to replace all 6 pistons at 020 over too.
OUCH!!!

Sorry for your pain and loss.. I have been there a couple of times.

This was the first I saw your post.

Too bad a Dodge dealership is rebuilding because they'll just do stock... now is a good time to beef it up a little with not a lot of extra $$$

thanks....
It sure was rough...not expecting to lay out 3gs to get back on the road again.
I will say this....
Vaughan Sherman who is the diesel mechanic at Hatch Brothers Dodge in Safford,Az is a true modern day hero! he stayed there on a Friday till 11:00PM Az time till the job was done.
I drove the truck that night untill I got home Sun at 5:00PM cst with no troubles at all!!!!
So.... Vaughn, if you are out there.....Thankyou again!!! you are a hero and I will always remember you with the utmost respect and gratitude!!!
And also to Katy, the service writer who stayed there till 11:00 as well.
Also to the Hatch Bros. you guys are the best!
If I ever get the money to buy a Dodge Challenger, I will fly to Az, and buy it from you guys!!!! I would like to recommend this dealership to anyone who will listen!
Thankyou and may God bless you!!

Glad you are back on the road.
Nice of you to give the dealer a pat on the back for a job well done even after the 3g.

I called down there Monday morning to let them know I made it home OK and with no issues.
And as I expected, Vaughn was there bright and early working away!
I just hope the dealership compensated him well for being there, working a double shift on a Friday night!

Hey $3k for the damage you describe is one heck of a deal. Machine shop work alone for what amounts to a full rebuild is often $3k. Plus the time just to R&R an engine at shop rates... You did ok I think.

yes I believe so.... I really do appreciate them treating me well. Hopefully the engine will last for many more miles. I have it in the shop right now getting the#6 injector swapped out. The mechaninc said he cleaned it up, but it would be a good idea to change it out.
Eventually I will maybe put in a whole new set.
I still have to get the engine work paid off... still a stinger for me anyways.

It was one week. they started on it on a Monday. I got it in my hands Friday night at 11:00PM Arizona time.
Yup...

Short block would run $5K not counting labor to r&r engine, that's a smoking deal you got. No pun intended.

Wow, sorry about the break down, but it is really cool you got an ethical dealer that really took care of you.

Maybe a letter to the owner, or the editor of their local paper is in order?
