Killed my truck and now it wont crank!

Killed my truck in the DQ drive through to order and now it wont crank. It acts like it lost prime. I show an 1/8th of a tank of fuel. When I key the truck and crank I get no movement out of my fuel pressure gauge. Its a 2002 2500 cummins, auto trans. It died one other time on me and the gauge was close to empty and I figured I ran it out of diesel. Even though I had run it lower than it was. Im wondering if my fuel gauge is off. What else would cause it to not want to start back like that? We pushed the truck to a parking spot and I had someone from work come pick me up. I guess im going to go back up there with a can of fuel and see if I can crack lines and get it cranked.

Boy, been there and done that. You're out of fuel your fuel sending unit is bad. $94.00 from the dodge dealer only. Have to drop the tank or lift the box. Be forewarned, it will only get worse. Right now my truck shows full for the first 175 miles, almost empty is 1/2 a tank.

Yep no fuel. Went back and put 2.5 gallons in, cracked the injectors and got it cranked and then went and put 31.5 gallons in it. I suppose a new sending unit is in the works!

Yes it went to full. I dont know what the deal is. All I know is that it was reading 1/8 of a tank and it was empty.

Same here, when my gauge gets down to 1/2-3/8 I start looking for fuel. I know my fuel sending unit is of from when I did my airdog install but I didn't want to spend the money for a new one at that time. I fill up using my odometer and not my gauge

I know. My next stop after lunch was fuel! The local dealership told me the sending unit was $68.00. I work at a tractor dealership so I can have the bed of my truck off in a matter of minutes so im changing the sending unit.
