Installing the new Mst and slave problem
I have been posting about replacing a defective Slave and Mst cylinder on my clutch.
Today I did get another new assembly, drove 150 miles.
Installed the Master, No problem
Installed the Slave, (without cutting the plastic tabs) No problem
I CANT GET THE CONNECTOR CONNECTED!!!! How the heck do you connect the two together. There is so much force resistance. Is there some special tool no body has mentioned? Do I need to cut the straps on the slave to let off pressure? Everyone says (install both, couple them up and hit the clutch to break the band on the slave)
This whole thing is making me crazy!!!

Okay...
What they dont tell you or give you instructions when you purchase a new Mst. and slave.
1) DO NOT CUT THE PLASTIC TABS ON THE PLUNGER OF THE SLAVE..
2) Install the Mst. Then couple the Mst. and the slave together BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE SLAVE!!! If you install the slave prior to connecting the 2 lines the fork puts pressure on the plunger making it impossible to connect the lines.
Once I removed the slave, the lines went right together..
Now--- I have a running Dodge again.
2 weeks ago a new transfer case, last week a new starter and this week a new tranny cluth.
So........Heres what it really cost me for THIS breakdown...
New parts (Master and slave) $236.00 and 1 hr drive to get them
Replacement parts for the defective new parts. $0.00 and 1-1/2 drive up and 1-1/2hr drive back.
New 2007 2500 5.9 Diesel 4 door Dodge. $40,000 loaded that I will be trading in just as soon as I can drive back. (paperwork is done)
Not quite a "Priceless" message is it? So, the new part was only $40,000
Isnt owning a Dodge a beautiful thing!!!

So.........Im done until I talk to Dodge tomorrow and demand a replacement.
I will install it WITHOUT cutting the slave cylinder straps and that should solve my problem.

Thank god I realized in time before signing the papers to visit the local Ford Dealership.
Last 2 Fords I have owned, I never replace a single part in 5 years. Each one was a new vehicle.
Your post made me realize there are no "Owner mistakes, because there is nothing to fix!"

Last F O R D I owned had a Power Stroke 6.0 2004

When you have your truck 1 1/2 days and it dies on you take it as a sign to get rig of it. I put 2 injectors in it then, drove it from IL. to Al and had 3 more put in it. I kept that truck for 14 months. Ok now I'll list the parts it had to have that I can remember without going back into my records.
14 months
23 fuel injectors
3 rear ends
5 recalls while I owned it 2 after I sold it.
2 brake jobs on the front
3 front rotors
1 turbo
1 throttle position sensor
128000 miles and 3 sets of tires
Found a Dodge dealer that gave me 23500 for a truck I paid 48000 for 14 months before and was happy to get rid of it.
Good luck on the FORD you'll need it if it's a diesel. Last good one they had was the 7.3. Now that one just keeps on going and going but the 6.0 IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Mark
My worst nightmare is that truck showing up in my yard again.
My ex-wife cost me less to get rid of HAHAHAHAHA
