Injector pump timing

My truck wont fire on #2. We shot a lil either in intake and ran rough for a second. Is it possible to have timing off 180 degrees? I think thats what I did. If so any avdice on how to fix easily? Neighbor suggested takin pump off and rotating a turn and re-installing it. But I can't see any way of doing that w/o taking the cover off the front? Any parts on the pump to do this easier like on the p7100?

Very possible to have timing off by 180 degrees. Before you tear everything apart again, are you sure you have fuel at the injectors? If the pump is 180 degrees out, you will have to pull the pump or the cover to fix it, so make sure that's the problem or you'll be in there a 3rd time to put it back again.

We loosened the fittings at the injectors and they shot fuel out. It had a white smoke coming out the exhaust. But didn't try like it would fire. Is there a way to rotate it w/o taking front cover out? How do you pull the pump w/o loostening the nut? I hope I can get it done B4 it snows. Wasn't sure it coolant was circulated enough so it'll be pluged in all night. Its easier to work on a warm engine anyway.

You can get the nut on the pump shaft by removing the oil filler tube, you don't have to pull the cover to get the nut. Then pull the pump out, rotate the shaft one turn, and stick it back in. If you've got the whole front of the truck apart it might be easier to pull the cover again than to pull the pump.

Is there enough room for someone with big hands to do that without loosing the nut and washer. Does the hole line up directly with the nut? Thank you for ur help.

You can't just spin the shaft inside the gear like on a 2nd gen. There's a key on the pump shaft so you have to pull the cover and remove the gear, or pull the pump and turn the shaft. If you pull the pump you're likely to drop the key, so since you've had plenty of practice pulling the cover off you might want to attack it that way.

Mr hammer worked. It started right up, but it was very quiet, not supposed to be that way, we need it loud. Time to retard the timing.
