I need a new rear axle seal, have question.

I have a 06 2500 with 32000 on it. Iwent for a tire rotation today and wound up at the dealer for a new rear axle seal. My question is, the drum was soaked, should they put on new shoes? and what about the main brakes, should they put in new pads? It's under warranty, what do you guys think.

I would make them replace the pads on both sides but in reality you should pay for one side.

Definitely need to replace oil soaked brake shoes or discs. If not they will grab and try to lock up. If the front pads are not oil soaked, do not believe they would be under warranty since they are a maint. item.

New shoes on both sides, I'd make them pay for the whole thing.

The one side needs to be replaced. And it is common practice that axles be balanced - it could be unsafe to change the shoes on only one side, as the braking and wear could become unbalanced. The change on the other side was only brought on by the failure of the seal.
