Howling

Just a quick question... not all the time, but when i reach approx. 20 to 30 mph I can hear a howling coming from the motor. When the engine is cold its worst, I picked up my Camper the other day, the truck was shut down for about 1 1/2 hours, when I started out i got to about 30 mph and the howling got pretty loud. As I got to about 40 to 45 mph it stopped, is it just the Turbo talking to me or should i have something checked.. [undecided]

Thanks in advance...

Tommy

Re:Howling

It does sound like the fan clutch. When these trucks are cold, it takes a bit for the clutch to release.

I've had the same howling at about the same speeds and it's only when the truck has had time to cool down. I've got about 30k on mine, and I was wondering if this could be a problem in the future. Any thoughts? 8)BUCK 8)

Buck,
That is the same with mine.. Sometimes its pretty loud, I pulled my camper after about a hour or so of cool down and the sound, just for a minute, almost drove me right out of the truck. But this weekend I never heard it... ahhh, the mind just boggles [eyecrazy]... I guess its just the joy of owning a Diesel [laugh] ...Go figure ;D

Tommy
