Help No Start

Just went out to leave and my truck started to turn over then quit. Everything else seems to be working. Cleaned battery cables and tried again nothing. Checked currant to the starter and its getting power. Traced small wire from starter to fuse box and found 20 amp fuse to starter solonid (sp) was blown. Replaced fuse and that one blew too. Where is the silonoid located, is it on the starter?? Any help would be great, any ideas also on what else it could be also, Thanks, Kevin.

Figured it out. For some reason the starter sol. was drawing some serious amps. hooked up a remote push button starter and got it started but it sounded kinda wierd like it was hanging up. Decided $180 wasnt worth the possible damage to the flywheel if the sol. wasnt releasing so a starter replacment was i order. Thanks Dodge/Cummings for making it a 5 min. job to R&R .

Cummins, no G.

Likely problem is the starter contacts, they are common problems in our starters.

Might look into replacing them, might save you some bucks, if you can send back the one you ordered.

Start contacts are really common - I did mine, really easy job.

Good call on not running the truck with the starter sticking engaged... I saw an engine fire once because of that (in a semi though, and a fire extinguisher was near, fortunately).
