Exclamation Help, air in fuel lines??????

Please help,

I have a 92 dodge turbo diesel4x4 3/4 tonne. I changed the fuel lift pump today, and bled the line to get any air out while operating the manual lift lever.. The truck started right up, no problems. I then let the truck warm up approximately 20 minutes, and drove it for about 1 km and shut it off. I came back to start it about 10 minutes later and it just kept turning over but wouldn't fire. It's not getting fuel I suppose, possibly because I didnt bleed the line enough???? After trying to start it I operated the manual lift lever on the fuel lift pump and couldn't get any fuel to bleed through the bleed screw.
I then got towed back to my garage. Then I undid the bleed screw and operated the manual lift lever and got fuel coming out of the bleed screw. wHY NOW I DON'T KNOW. But it still will not start, theres still no fuel going into the cylinder i'm sure. I'm looking for help on this one.

Thanks,

Jeff

If it ran for 20 minutes, or more, you certainly had all of the air out of the lines, as long as it isn't sucking air from someplace else. I'm thinking maybe you have a weak/bad lift pump. I know it's mechanical, but they still go bad sometimes.

crack an injector and see if you get fuel or truck may start if air in line is the prob---or check wire going to fuel shut off selenoid (its the blue one)---my 92 has had chronic problemns with this wire---it looks like its connected, but isnt sending power to the selenoid,, wiggle it and try it again---I finallly put a different connector on mine, and solved problem. I have several friends with same era of rig with same problem.. Hope this helps

Sounds more like the fuel lines are leaking. Look for any wet spot, and replace it. If the lines are more than 3 years old, just replace them from the tank to the lift pump. Also check the filter drain to make sure it is fully closed. The 12 volt wire for the shutdown sol can be a problem, so check that too.

sounds like its not holding its prime. Its running after you prime it but after you shut it off its losing it running back in tank... But I would check the fuel shutoff selinoid first.

You have an air leak.
Easy way to find is to pressurize through the tank fill with compressed air, no more than 10 psi, then listen for leaks.
