Getting Fuel pressure out of range errors

I have a Banks 6-Gun PDA on my '06 Dodge 5.9L Cummins Diesel. I am getting codes 21 Fuel Pressure out of range and Error 31 Crank Shaft Position.

I previously had a P0016 AND P0341 for crank position and camshaft position. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor and cleaned all sensor connectors and reseated them. Now I am getting a banks 21 and 31 for Fuel Pressure out of range and Crankshaft position. I have cleaned all the connectors but still get these two errors.

I have not seen the DTR codes return yet, but you can feel some roughness in the performance when driving.

I checked with the dealer about a fuel pressure sensor. They want $620.00 so I don't want to replace it without a thorough investigation. I cannot find an aftermarket fuel pressure sensor.

Any ideas?

I found a vendor in Oregon that will sell the fuel pressure rail with the sensor for $132.00. The sensor is made by Bosch. I still have not found a vendor that sells just the sensor. I ordered the fuel rail assembly with the sensor. I will get the Bosch part number off of it when it arrives.

I also have an intermittent P0148 - Fuel Delivery Malfunction. intermittent error. Any clues?

Have you tried disconnecting the Banks and seeing if it still throws codes?

I have received fuel rail pressure errors on both the Banks and in the OBDII from the ECM. This is why I plan to change the sensor Monday when it arrives. I have contacted Banks and I the next step after replacing the sensor would be to remove the Banks. Something is not right. I get an intermittent surge and I feel some kind of vibration in the pedals.

Banks has caused the crankshaft position sensor code on my and two friends trucks. After taking the connection apart , cleaning it, and sealing it up with silicon they have been fine.

I am still getting Crankshaft Position Errors and Fuel Rail Pressure Errors. I have replaced the Camshaft position sensor, the Crankshaft position sensor, and the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor. I have cleaned all connectors and put a dab of dielectric grease on the connectors.

I will be removing the Banks 6 Gun this afternoon.

I am starting to question the 5v supply. Does anyone know anything about the TIPM, the 5v power supply, and the Powertrain Control Module?

I have had some flaky power issues with the truck since I got it. The Dodge dealership has never found anything. I have seen that some code updates have been made for power charging.

Intermittently I have always received random sensor errors on both the engine and the ABS. Intermittently my Sound System resets and switches modes from Satellite Radio to AM Radio just as if I had disconnected the battery. I have had 2 different power inverters (for my notebook computer) complain about low voltage at idle.

The Banks 6 Gun has been removed. I also pulled the TPIM connectors and found several of them had a good bit of dirt inside. I sprayed them out with contact cleaner, applied a little bit of dielectric grease and reseated the connectors.

I tried to start it to see if the codes were present without the Banks, but it does not start. The small red light in the instrument panel for the fuel heaters is flashing and it does not start. I checked every connection for the senosrs and the TPIM and all appears to be fine. I am scratching my head and gritting my teeth. Any ideas? I am going outside to see if I can pull any codes.

I tried to pull the error codes but the scantool would not link up. I removed the the large TPIM connectors and blew them out with compressed air. I may have overdone it with the contact grease. I then pulled the codes. No immediate codes such as Camshaft Position Error seen. Tomorrow I go on a 400 mile trip to meet with a well-site customer. Fingers crossed and praying now.

Oregon Fuel Injection will sell you a Bosch fuel rail sensor onlie for $132.00. Not cheap, but better than $620.00 from the dealer.

The Banks seems to be causing the Cam and Crank position errors. The fuel rail pressure sensor seems to have fixed the fuel pressure errors. I'll update after I have driven 500 miles.

The flaky power issues were caused by an unseated connector in the main harness. It also caused ABS, GPS, and alarm problems. It appears that this connector was never seated properly. It was cleaned and greased and all is working fine. I have not tried to re-install Banks yet.
