funny brakes
i am having a bad time with my brakes i have a 98 24td quad cab i have replaced both front calipers, lines, rotors, and pads, problem is. with abs connected i stop with a good stop for a second. then they unlock and i get no braking after that untill i stand on the pedal or hit something i am not getting help from the backs. now when i disconect the abs i can squeel to stop with just front brake staying locked up and again no help from back. i can tell by front wheel is so hot you can bearly touch and backs are bearly warm could it be my proportiong valve or is it something else and i have new shoes and turned drums in back and adjusted. i need help bad and assap thanks
More than likely the rears need to be adjusted manually.
Dodge trucks are notorious for the self adjusters not working correctly.
Before manually adjusting try backing up in reverse while applying the parking brake till you come to a complete stop.

Try replacing the bleeders and use a vaccuum pump to suck from the rear. I had a similar issue with my 96'. The bleeders were partially plugged. The vaccuum pump was able to pull some sort of dirt type blockage. I've done the same thing with a couple of Ford's and a Toyota p/u. Now is also a good time to replace all of the fluid in the master cylinder. This ensures clean fluid throughout. On my used vehicles I replace the brake fluid every 3-4yrs.
