Has any work been done on the fuel system lately?

I would double check your banjo bolt washers.

The reason it is hard starting is because of the leak.

good luck

I had the same thing on a 96 ctd, was told by dealer it was a designed in hole in the fuel pump to let you know the pump was about to die... Don't know to this day if I believe him, but a new pump did improve mileage, power, and no more leak. Don'y know if it is the same thing you have, but worth a check?

Good luck,
Dennis
