Error Codes

I just bought the truck and 3days into driving it the check engine light came on and I lost acceleration in 4th gear, like it went to neutral, I tried to downshift to 3rd and still no RPMs or acceleration. So I pulled off the side of the road, came to a stop and shifted back down to 1st gear, the RPMs came back and I turned around and went back home with no problems. I got the error codes(turned the key from acc-on 3 times and they displayed them on the digital odometer). The error codes came up as 0460-Fuel Level Sensor A Circuit, 1693-Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor High, and 1687-No Cluster BUS or No Messages from Mechanical Instrument Cluster. What do I need to replace and/or buy to fix the problem(haven't had a chance to get the Edge Juice Attitude to monitor fuel pressure, etc.) and will it hurt the truck to drive it with these problems?

Yeah, what's the truck you're talking about? Those codes don't match a 2000...

Yes,its for the 00 dodge, that is what I found online, but I believe they were for an 02, I assumed they were the same. It was hard to find any codes for 00.

those are for an 03 or up. cummins didn't have a fuel rail until 2003. before that they used the vp44 style pump. Are you sure you don't have a 0216 code? cause that's what it sounds like you should have

Yes positive on the codes that came up on digital odometer, but now I guess I don't know what those 3 mean. Truck drove fine to work yesterday and check engine light went off, but on my way home this morning, check engine light again and I lost rpms 6 times and in different gears, so I pushed in the clutch and accelerated a couple times, once the rpms got to about 800, the rpms revved and I threw it back in gear and kept going.

what you're explaining sounds like your vp44 has crapped the bed.. but hopefully somebody else on here can help you out more so than I.

p1693 is a companion code. it means that the pcm has set a code. and the ECM is setting a companion code to let you know that there is a code set in the PCM> You will always get this when you have set a code.
I think you need to go have someone put this on a real scanner to see what comes up. You either are loosing the VP44 or maybe the computer as it is tossing you a bad code.
Whats the possibility that your truck has the wrong computer in it???

Anything is possible, bought it used and bone stock except for the exhaust. Was well kept and maintained, but anything can go at any moment. As for the computer I wouldn't know where to look or how to check. How much do VP44 run and is a new stock ok or should I go with aftermarket?

Code is throttle position sensor, I got it to my mechanic and he's going to look over it next week. Abs light came on and the relay under the hood for the Abs wouldn't shut off either....everything seems to be happening all at once haha, oh well hope the cost stays down

Make sure your battery voltage is good. Low battery voltage in will give you low volts out and the computer will see low volts and think something is wrong. Throttle position sensors are expensive. can run up to $600 so look around for a lower price one. VP44 can be as high as $1700 but could find one for around $1100 if you check around the internet. Just make sure you have good fuel pressure to the VP and you should be ok. They don't like it when the lift pump fails, as it provides cooling fuel and lubrication to the VP and if it doesn't have it, it will run till it dies and then you have to replace both.
But if your having a lot of issues all at once, make sure you have a really good charge on those batteries, and go from there.
