electrical problem
 

i have been having a problem with fuses blowing and running light being very dim. today i had somesmoke come from under the instrument cluster. I am in temple texas at this time and have to drive back to arkansas next week anyone no a good place to take it here?

What year truck?
What fuses are you blowing?
Are you towing anything?

99 1 ton 4x4 dually
why fuses ? no idea out of blue started happening. lost running lights replaced fuse and worked fine... then 2 under hood fuses hazard and stop light fuse
happened when not towing then happened again when towing a 6x12 trailer with 1 motorcyle on it.

The first place to check is under thr rear bumpper. I have seen were people have a big rats nest of wires and it is all messed up. Also check the tow plug for and burnt wires.

Exactly!!!! I had a poorly installed trailer plug when I purchased the my truck. Bare, broken and corroded wires and all. It took a careful wire by wire sorting out and re-wiring to fix all my problems.

Fixed the problem, traded it in and got a 2006 quad cab 3500 sw ctd, aut o[guitar]

well, that's a pretty good way to fix it.
