Unhappy Electrical issue (welding)

Had a 5th wheel hitch installed in my 03 Dodge Cummins last Monday. On the way home, my display wasnt showing the proper gear (automatic trans) and the truck will not shift out of 2nd gear. The mechanics at the dealership said they replaced an instrument module, as well as the module (unsure which one) that tells trans when to shift. When they tried to read for anymore codes, the truck fried the garages equipment! Anyone ever had this issue?

Sounds to me like a problem in the trans. like a gov. pressure sensor, or solenoid. Could be a wiring issue like they hit some when drilling holes ect. Double check everything that they did.
