Distributor?
What's that?

Does it turn over?

If indeed it has a distributor, how about moisture in the coil or wires.

Been so long since I had to work on a vehicle that had spark plugs, I've forgotten most of it.

phox

Did you check the tower on the coil? It could have a crack or a carbon track down the side of it. If it has a carbon track it can look like a pencil line. Sometimes you can get it to stop arcing and sometimes you can't. One other thing that comes to mind is the sparkplug wires. Try replacing just the coil wire and see what happens. I have seen a coil wire going bad that you would have sworn that the fuel pump was failing.
Tom

All the foregoing advice is good. Use a meter and check to see if you have 12 volts going into the coil. Remove the coil wire and had someone crank the engine while holding the end of the wire about 1/4" from a grounded metal part of the engine. Is the spark nice and fat and a blue color, or is it thin and yellowish? It should be fat and blue. If it is thin and yellowish you could have either a bad coil and/or a bad condensor. Also, even in dry weather, have a look at the engine running at night. If there is no evidence of any sparks jumping then spray the engine with a water mist and check again. Once you have done all the above and still have problems let us know and someone will give you some more advice.
