Dodge truck

Ok guys this is my first time on here I'm hoping someone can help me out I have a 1996 dodge 35004x4 with the 47re transmission I bought the truck from a guy and he said he had used the truck the day before and went and got in it the next morning and it wouldn't take any gear so when I got the truck to my garage I pulled out the tranny and put a different one in it and it still want take gear don't even act like it's going to I jacked the back tires off of the ground when I put it in 1st 2nd or drive I can't turn the back tires or reverse but if I go to neutral I can spin the back tires I'm wondering if there is anything electrical causing this I'm grateful for any ideas

I'll check it a little closer but what has me on that would it still let the back tires roll when I put the transmission in neutral with the engine running it locks the tires if I put it in any gear but neutral ive switch the transfer case in 2hi 4hi and 4 lo and if I go to neutral with the transfer case and the transmission in gear with the truck running I can turn the rear tires
engine is v10 8.0L

It sounds like the second transmission was not a good one either
