My 2003 dodge 3500 4x4 (diesel) just died like I shut the key off it started hard and then died again after a little while it started good but only runs for a short while and dies.I don't know where to start except to take it to a mechanic.Any help would be great.

 

Check for codes. Turn the key from off to on ( not cranking), 3 times, ending in the on position. Codes will read in the odometer screen. Here is a link to the code descriptions. Probably a DOA lift pump, but without any code....it's purely a guess.
