after thinking about what you said a while, i've always had weird electric stuff in my truck. Sometimes if you reach down under the back seat with the truck running and touch metal, it would shock the fire out of you. static electricity is really bad in my truck too. hmmm, got me to thinking.
haha surely not. stuff was going goofy long before i was spinnin all 4

When I worked on the caddy's and there was a communication issue with one of the modules, pcm/ecm we would hook a scan tool to it and try to talk to all of the modules. If there was one that would not communicate we would use the scan tool and try and go in and read data, codes, anything. If it said no communications the next step was disconnect the connectors at the suspect module, check a schematic for the power and ground wires and with the module disconnected, key on, check the power and ground wires with a voltmeter and sometimes a load light which would put a load on the circuit thus checking for shorts or high resistance. If power and grounds were good, replace the module. But that's coming from a simple Cadillac tech, or used to be.....what do I know. Good luck!!!

Update:
Dealer says the truck not running and the lights being wacky is not related.
My VIN number has a "restricted warranty" on it for some reason.
Tommorrow morning the dealer is going to re-flash the computer and cross our fingers and hope it starts running correctly. If not, I get to buy a new ECM. That should fix the running part...but still aren't sure about the light issue.
Cross your fingers and say your prayers for me...i'm gonna need it!

further update:
Dealer called me yesterday...said ECM was fried. replaced that....got the ECM going again but now we are back to phase 2. truck runs but for a short amount of time.
When the key is off, theres two ports on the truck that have power....but shouldn't have power. Theres a short somewhere in the electronics. Dealer is going over all 300 wires in the truck in the electronics.

Was told by the dealer that i am currently using that "restricted warranty" is on a lot of trucks, particularly ones that have been serviced at certain dealers. This is because "stupid" techs were throwing parts at trucks that did not fix the problem, if there ever was a real problem. It was costing DC apparently.
I have had a cat, steering wheel, visor, and a door strip replaced under warranty as well as an AC re-charge. Maybe that list of warranty claims made DC throw a restricted warranty at my truck.....still not sure.

i see, your warranty is flagged because you had shoddy warranty work done at a particular dealer. isnt that nice?
so it wasnt because of suspected mods. you said they are warrantying the ecm, they did care about the mods?
