Control module gone bad?

Ok guys get this:

turn key on, all lights come on, sounds normal. As soon as the ABS light goes off, all dash lights come on. Headlight switch is OFF but ALL gauges are lit up. Headlights don't work...nor do the flashers....nor do the brake lights....only the 3rd brake light works. outside temp gauge reads "--"

truck starts fine and runs fine. infact it can spin all 4 wheels. but no headlights or brake lights.....or thermometer.

i would say from my limited experience with these issues that you have a controller issue of some kind.

back in December the cruise control would quit working randomly...but other times work

then SERV 4wd would occassionally come on. Dealer pulled codes....say 2wd, 4hi, and 4low circuits open.

last friday it was eating starter relays....

yesterday all dash lights come on with no other lights

today it only runs for 3 seconds then dies.

how about unhooking the batteries for awhile? since most things are controlled by module nowadays, it may be something corrupt and a memory clear might help. just a thought.

If you think it's the main ECM, check your aftermarket sources before you go to the dealer. I've purchesed 1st gen ECM's from AutoZone and AdvanceAuto.

I don't think so.

Bullydog was stumped when i called them....but ofcourse they would be.

main ECM is fine, i can still retrieve codes from it....even load and unload bullydog. theres just communication errors between the ECM and something else.

dealer said what Bob said....tipm
