Code P0148

I installed a Quadzilla 30-60-100 programmer in my 04.5 Cummins. Thing runs great, better mileage etc. I am getting code P0148 now (less than a week) I have had the code cleared 3 times. I comes back instantly when I start the truck. I've cleared the code both with the module installed and without. The engine light went out without the box installed. Once installed, on again. Any thoughts? I have been on the with Quad 10 times already. They can't seem to help other than by sending me a new module.

Here's my issue. I am leaving for a trip on Friday AM. I would like to know if anyone has had a similar experience. Any thoughts on what i should do prior to the trip? Disconnect? Run it? New Module? Any input would be apreciated.

If it matters, the truck has a cold air intake and a Geno's MEK with a cat. Truck has 26K on it and has always run perfect.

I have only run it on the top setting for a total of about 2 minutes. I have been running at the 60 HP setting.

When you say be careful, why? What are you referring to? Now i am very concerned.

The post above yours actually has bad information in it.

0148 is a fuel delivery error. This is typically caused by a lack of volume to the CP3 pump. This can be caused by a weak lift pump or a dirty fuel filter. These are the 2 most common anyway.

The 0148 has nothing to do with the high pressure side of things, it is strictly on the low pressure side. Your truck could have a weak (not bad) lift pump from the factory and when you demand extra fuel from it, it cannot supply the commanded volume.

If you do a search on 0148 you will find multiple discussions on it from stock trucks when towing, all the way to the highest horsepower trucks, including those that do not alter fuel pressure.

So the first thing you should look at is your fuel filter, have you changed it recently and how many miles are on it?

If that is not the problem you should maybe have your lift pump checked out.

Great info. I have about 7000 miles on the current filter. I will be more than happy to change again.

Just did a search om 0148. thanks. All my questions are answered. Thanks again.

Dirty Filter

I just had 0148 and engine light come on in the middle of the desert.
Towed truck 100 miles.
turned out to be the FILTER.

changed my my filter and i am still throwing code P0148. Lift pump seems fine to me. No issue starting after the filter change. I'm a little baffled at this point. Truck runs awesome, but yet a code. I don't get it. Anyone?

I know even with a scanner it will take some time to clear the code. I am not sure why it sets differently than others, but if everything is running fine you might give it a few more keystarts.

So as one can see there is more then just a clogged filter and or bad lift pump to this code. It could be any number of things. Do not ever assume that it is the most obvious and what everyone else is having a problem with.

Diagnose, find, fix and inform. Good words to go by.

Let us know what it turns out to be. If you have proper fuel pressure and flow into the CP3 then it may just be the Quad.

Well the code is finally gone. Everything seems to be fine, now that it is back to stock.

A replacement Quad arrived today, which i had to pay for until i am credited for the return. I'll throw it in tonight. In the morning I am off to PA pulling my trailer. I'll report what happens.
