Have 1999 Dodge 2500 Diesel and have a weird symptom....Every once in a while the check engine light will come on at the same time the temp guage will quit working. Eventually after a couple days the light will not be on and the guage also works good....

Is there anyway to get the code out of the computer without having to take it to a shop or is there a reader that people recommend? I have just going this site today so I am sorry if this type of things have previously been discussed. Any ideas as to what is causing my problems?

On a '99 you need to have it scanned. Try going to Autozone or someplace like that and see if they will scan your truck for you. Some will even do it for free.
