Brakes

2001 2500

Occationally, brakes act like the anti-lock engages when the tires are NOT sliding and the truck becomes extremely difficult to stop. The harder you push, the worse it gets. It only happens when the truck is about to stop. (i.e. you apply the brakes and at the last second the anti-lock engages and the truck keeps rolling)

Any Ideas?

Does it sound like the ABS is kicking on or just feel like it? Any super hard stops that may have warped the rotors in the past?

It's not the rotors, it is definitely an anti-lock feeling. The pedal actually gets spongy and pulsates.

I assume no red or amber brake light is on! Do you have just rear wheel anti lock or 4 wheel abs? Does it feel like just rears, front, or both?? First would suggest adjusting rear brakes, while an inspection of rear would be nice to confirm conditin. Next likely canidate is axle speed sensor on center top of differential, and it's associated wiring. That should get something rolling.

It is four wheel anti-lock. I will check the rear and check the speed sensor.
Thanks

sounds like a faulty speed sensor.

i guess for safety sake for now untill you find one out. unplug your abs fuse.
