abs & brake light on.

I have a 2000 Dodge 4x4 Cummins. I haven't driven it in about 3 weeks and when I started it yesterday the abs and brake light in the dash won't go out. I don't use the parking brake, but I did engage and disengage the parking brake and the light is still on. Are the two connected? Should I be worried? Is there an easy fix short of taking it to a mechanic?

TIA,
PM

It has never done this before?
It is fairly common to Dodges, as well as other ABS equipped vehicles. It usually doesn't heal itself. It can take some work to trace down the issue, but some of this you can do yourself. If it has been sitting for 3 weeks, perhaps there is moisture/rust on the sensor pickups. You can pull them off and clean them. You can also take it to a parts store which scans codes, and find out what the puter is showing.

Welcome to DTR, and hopefully we can help you through this. My 94 had the same issue, although my system is a little different. Many people here have worked through this, so you can also do some key word searches, and will come up with a ton of posts.

Thanks Hodge for the quick response. I didn't realize that parts stores will run codes for you. I'll have to start there and see what I come up with. Thanks again for the advice.
