97 Dodge Cummins Clutch & Pressure Plate
97 Dodge Cummins Clutch & Pressure Plate
We just put a new clutch and pressure plate, throw out bearing and pilot bearing in my 97 Dodge Cummins. Got it all back together, and truck will not go into gear. Clutch pressed all the way to the floor and it will not go into gear. There is no grinding noise as if it is attempting to go into gear. We finally got into gear once, but when you let out on the clutch, it acts like it's locking up. Is there a chance that the clutch plate is in bacwards? Need help fast.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I assume you removed the trans top plate with the shifter.
Perhaps the shifter isn't in the right position and two of the shift forks are trying to engage at the same time.
Don't think it would be very easy to put the clutch in backwards, then again I've never tried.
Good luck.

After tearing it back down, it was determined that they sent us the wrong clutch. It was too thick (for a stepped flywheel I assume). The pressure plate was the same. I am awaiting the right clutch so I can put it back together. Thanks for the reply.
